Japanese Miso Glazed Salmon with Asparagus
This quick and flavorful Japanese-inspired dish features tender salmon fillets coated in a savory-sweet miso glaze, perfectly complemented by crisp-tender asparagus. It's an ideal weeknight dinner that's both healthy and satisfying.
Let's cook.
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whisk together the miso paste, mirin, sake, soy sauce, and brown sugar until smooth. This is your miso glaze.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush about half of the miso glaze over the salmon fillets.
Toss the trimmed asparagus with sesame oil and salt in a medium bowl. Arrange the asparagus on the same baking sheet around the salmon.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork, and the asparagus is tender-crisp. For extra caramelization, you can broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
Serve immediately with the remaining miso glaze drizzled over the salmon, if desired.
