Moroccan Orange Blossom and Date Cookies
These delightful Moroccan cookies feature a tender, crumbly texture with the aromatic essence of orange blossom water and the sweet chewiness of dates. They are perfect for serving with mint tea or as a light dessert.
Let's cook.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, fine semolina, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Pour the melted butter and orange blossom water into the dry ingredients. Mix with a spoon until a soft, crumbly dough forms.
Gently fold in the finely chopped dates until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Take small portions of dough, about 1 tablespoon each, and roll them into small balls. Flatten each ball slightly with your palm.
Place the flattened cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between each cookie.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The cookies will still be soft when hot but will firm up as they cool.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
