Savory Tuna Rice Balls (Onigiri)
Craft these delightful Japanese-style rice balls, featuring seasoned rice molded around a savory tuna filling. They're an ideal choice for a quick, satisfying lunch or a convenient snack to enjoy anywhere.
Let's cook.
In a small bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
In a separate bowl, gently mix the warm cooked rice with the salt.
Wet your hands lightly with water to prevent sticking. Take about 1/2 cup of seasoned rice and flatten it into a disc in your palm.
Place about 1 tablespoon of the tuna mixture in the center of the rice disc.
Carefully bring the edges of the rice together to enclose the tuna filling. Gently shape the rice into a triangle or oval, pressing firmly but not too tightly.
Repeat with the remaining rice and tuna mixture to make 4 onigiri.
Wrap each onigiri with a strip of nori, pressing it gently to adhere.
