HOW TO MAKE IT

Let's cook.

01

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9 inch baking pan.

02

In a large bowl, whisk together the fine semolina, all-purpose flour, and baking powder. Set aside.

03

In a separate bowl, beat the 1/2 cup granulated sugar, Greek yogurt, vegetable oil, and eggs until well combined and creamy.

04

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.

05

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

06

While the cake bakes, prepare the syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the water, 1 cup granulated sugar, honey, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves and the syrup slightly thickens. Remove the cinnamon stick.

07

Once the cake is out of the oven, immediately pour the hot syrup evenly over the warm cake. Allow the cake to cool completely, absorbing all the syrup.

08

Cut the cake into squares and garnish with chopped walnuts before serving.
